Environmental Threats over Amazonian Indigenous Lands

This study investigates the main threats related to environmental degradation that affect Amazonian Indigenous Lands (ILs). Through a cluster analysis, we group ILs according set of common occur within and outside their limits. The results show most 383 are affected internally by combination different threats, namely: deforestation, forest degradation, fires, mining, croplands, pastures, roads. However, multiple relatively severe mainly located in arc deforestation Roraima state. loss (deforestation, fires) more intense ILs’ buffer zones than within, showing effectively promote preservation. In identified seven clusters characterized around limits, and, based on these results, have outlined four policy priorities be strengthened applied ILs: protecting zones; strengthening surveillance actions, combating illegal mining activities ILs; preventing fighting fires; removing invaders from all Amazon. this study, warn presented make peoples Amazon vulnerable. To guarantee indigenous peoples’ rights, actions territories surroundings must contained, quickly.
